If you haven’t yet jumped into The Crew Motorfest, now is the perfect time to dive in. Ubisoft’s answer to Forza Horizon continues to expand with the free release of Season 5, which introduces a fresh new map set on the volcanic island of Maui. The new map comes with unique landmarks and biomes to explore, adding depth to the game’s already diverse world. Additionally, the fan-favorite 'Made in Japan' playlist has received a sequel, along with quality-of-life improvements like functional rear-view mirrors in cockpit view.

The Crew 2 benefited from impressive post-launch support, with frequent updates keeping the game alive long after its release. With two more seasons planned for the second year, it’s encouraging to see Ivory Tower continue to invest in Motorfest’s growth in a similar fashion.

While Season 5 content is available to all players for free, there’s also a paid Year 2 Pass offering early access to 20 new cars. The standout feature, however, is the exclusive Chase Squad—a police-themed playlist and game mode reserved for Year 2 Pass owners.

In the Chase Squad, you join an elite police force tasked with taking down the notorious street racing gang known as the Cats. Throughout nine playlist events, you’ll work your way through training at the Chase Squad HQ, smashing targets in an elaborate gymkhana-style course. It’s only after completing initial missions that you’ll engage in your first street pursuit.

Unlike previous police chases in The Crew series, Motorfest’s Chase Squad adopts a more stealthy approach to pursuing criminals. You must carefully follow your target, maintaining a safe distance until backup arrives. Once reinforcements join the chase, you’re free to engage, using any means necessary to force the suspect to stop. Whether by blocking their path or ramming them until their damage meter runs out, taking down the racers results in dramatic, slow-motion crashes.

Despite the satisfying takedowns, the gameplay can feel a bit too easy, with most enemies falling after just a few hits. AI police drivers can be more of a hindrance than a help, often blocking your path at the wrong moments. While Chase Squad arrives shortly after Need for Speed Unbound’s Hot Pursuit-inspired update, there are no flashy gadgets like EMPs or spike strips in Motorfest’s chases, making them feel less strategic and more focused on direct action.

Overall, The Crew Motorfest continues to expand and evolve with engaging content and new experiences, making it a great time for both new and returning players to jump in.
